Milestone 1: REALI3SE is online!

🎉 We’re delighted to announce the launch of the official REALI3SE website — the first milestone of our project, reached as the project officially started on 📅 1 November 2026.

REALI3SE (Bridging Igneous Petrology and Machine Learning through Intersectoral, Interdisciplinary, and Intercontinental Staff Exchanges) is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Staff Exchanges project coordinated by the University of Perugia, bringing together 🌍 11 beneficiaries and 5 partner organisations across Europe, South America, Africa and the USA.

Over the next four years, Earth scientists, data scientists and industry partners will work side by side to combine multimodal geochemical data with physics-informed machine learning:

  • 🌋 Volcanoes — better understanding of magmatic processes and volcanic hazard prediction
  • 🤖 Machine learning — physics-informed models for complex geochemical archives
  • 🔬 Multimodal data — EPMA, LA-ICP-MS, Raman & IR spectroscopy, µ-XRF, synchrotron imaging
  • ⛏️ Critical raw materials — strategies for sustainable exploration
  • 🔄 Staff exchanges — secondments across academia, research institutes and industry

📰 This website will be our main channel for news, results, secondment stories, open-science resources and opportunities. Follow us as the journey unfolds! 🚀
